Star Valley Orchards was founded in 1995 by owners Ron & Karen. What used to be pasture for cattle was converted into an Apple orchard and a Blueberry patch. Since that time it has expanded beyond the 40 acre home orchard with a newer orchard established several miles away. Our business continues to grow with new plans and developments each year. In the past, we have had a large garden... up to 5 or 6 acres. Now we have decided to focus more on fruits, so the garden is smaller.
Our apple season begins in early August with Pristine followed by Zestar, Wealthy & Gingergold. Zestar is the early apple that is very similar to the HoneyCrisp. September apples include Linda Mac, McIntosh, Cortland, Sweet Sixteen, HoneyCrisp & Macoun. Our October apples are Jonagold, Smoothee, Snowsweet & Ambrosia. In the future we will also have Gala & Northwest Greening apples. We offer school tours to the surrounding area and we wecome tourist buses.
Blueberry Bushes available in pots. We carry the following Cold Hardy Varieties:
Highbush - Blueray, Elliott, Northland & Patriot.
Lowbush - North Blue.
Apple Trees available by special order bareroot, ready for planting. It is best to call by November to order the most popular varities of trees.
After experimenting with different varieties of Blueberries we planted our first bushes in 1995. We offer both U-Pick and Pre-Picked berries. Our blueberry season starts in July and continues to at least mid- August. Please call before you come to make sure we have ripe berries for you.
We also have limited amounts of red & black raspberries. We are also experimenting with table grapes.
The Orchard Market was built in 2005 with help from our Amish friends. We have a licensed kitchen where we bake fresh pies, pastries, sweet breads & cookies, and do home canning. We carry specialty caramels, jams & jellies, maple & fruit syrups, sugar-free spreads, fruit butters, pie fillings, sauces, mustards, salsas, and pickles. We serve up to 16 varieties of super premium Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream. We also sell fresh locally grown cranberries & dried fruits. Our Amish friends have supplied the market with handmade quilts, rugs & crafts.
We participate in the Farmers Markets at Tomah, Black River Falls, and Eau Claire. During September and October you might also find us in the Farmers Market sections at several Festivals in Wisconsin.
